Neil started his career in law as a clerk working at Slough County Court. This persuaded Neil that a career in law was the right path for him to take and Neil took the opportunity to ask one of the Partners of Willmett and Co, Alan Miller, if he had any vacancies that Neil could apply for. Neil was offered a job and started with Willmett and Co on 1 February 1981. Neil initially worked at the Firm’s Slough office before moving to the Firm’s office in Windsor. After qualifying as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, Neil took over responsibility for running Willmett and Co’s litigation department at the Windsor office. An opportunity later arose for Neil to set up Ascot Lawyers with Mary Knowlson and Ascot Lawyers opened its doors on 1 February 2000, initially in a purpose built office in Neil’s back garden. The Firm rapidly expanded and the practice moved to Binfield, then to Bracknell, before relocating to its current offices in Ascot.  In July 2015 Ascot Lawyers became Ascot Lawyers Ltd and Neil holds the position of Managing Director.

Neil has been involved in a number of high profile personal injury cases, both from a Claimant and from a Defendant point of view.  Neil has extensive experience dealing with complex brain injury cases and he has been closely involved in a number of cases where insurers have alleged fraud on the part of the client, such allegations having subsequently proved to be completely unfounded. Neil also has a great deal of expertise in the areas of commercial contract disputes and disputes involving land and property. Neil is currently the main point of contact at Ascot Lawyers for cases of this nature.  The key for Neil is getting to know his clients properly and understanding in detail the ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ of a case.

Neil is an experienced personal injury litigator having been a member APIL for a number of years. In addition, Neil has had an active role in the rescue and recovery industry, working with one of its major independent operators and dealing with all types of disputes that arise.

Outside of work Neil is an avid ice hockey supporter and the company sponsors the Bracknell Bees. Neil remains a keen biker and is the proud owner of an original Mad Max Kawasaki Z1000. Neil has used his own personal experience of motorbike riding in a number of high profile motorbike cases that he has been involved with.

Neil is a keen follower of martial arts, having practiced the art for many years. Neil looks forward to returning to this in the future as it is one of his favourite hobbies.’
